Welcome to my Tissot PR50 Review
I have never been much of a watch enthusiast and didn’t even know what a Tissot PR50 or even a Tissot was. I am a “hands on” kind of guy (so says my wife) who works on cars, planes and just am always fixing or building something.
So for me, the Tissot PR50 sounded like a foreign car, and telling the time by an old fashioned, inexpensive watch like the kind you pick up at the local pharmacy or grocery store was good enough for me. Until I met my wife!
She loves watches and considers them to be works of art! Me, I just need one to make sure I am on time for things. So let’s just say that my banged up basic watch, although she said was “manly” was just not pretty enough for her, which also meant non-functional! WHAT?
So I did listen to her ranting and raving about how you can get high quality watches at affordable prices and not have to spend the big bucks (unless you want to) on Rolex, Breitling and even Omega to have a great looking timepiece on my wrist.
I found that I really like the Tissot PR50 and the quality it has to offer. Now my wife is happy that I only wear the banged and dinged up watch when I am out in the workshop or cutting the grass!
I have put together this site to help others who want great looking watches at affordable prices. Check it out and as my wife will tell you, “it’s great to look like a million bucks for only a few.”
So here is just a few things that the Tissot Men’s T-Classic PR50 Watch is designed with, a handsome black face featuring contrasting silver-tone markers that create a sophisticated, easy-to-read-dial. This timepiece is constructed with a stainless steel case, a stationary stainless steel bezel, and a stainless steel link bracelet with a secure double-locking-fold-over clasp. An anti-reflective sapphire window shields the black dial face, which features silver-tone Roman numeral hour markers, silver-tone watch hands, and a date calendar at the three o’clock position. Powered by Swiss-quartz movement, the watch is water resistant to 165 feet. This is a very nice watch for just about anyone. If you are on the go, or if you want to dress to impress the Tissot has a watch for you.

Tissot PR50 Watch Overview
The company that makes the Tissot PR50 watch was founded in 1853 and has been in its present location of Le Locle in the Jura Mountains for over 150 years. It is now part of the Swatch group, whose other brands include Omega, Longines, Rado, and Calvin Klein.
The Swatch Group is the largest watchmaker in the World, accounting for 25% of all sales. Including the Tissot PR50, the whole line of PR50 watches are a very good watch for the value you get it for.
Tissot watches are designed for the low- to mid-price range of Swiss watches. Because of their affordability they are often the first Swiss watch someone buys. You can buy a Swiss made, Tissot watch for as little as $240.
The company has many collections such as the Carson, Desire, Heritage Classic, PR50, Trend Flower and T-Touch. Tissot watches have been made for over 150 years and offer excellent value for money for those looking to buy a Swiss watch from a genuine manufacturer with a pedigree in watch making.
Tissot has been responsible for some of watchmakings firsts, including the first anti-magnetic watch, the first plastic watch (Idea 2001), the first stone watch (The Rockwatch) and even the first watch made of wood (The Woodwatch). They have also been appointed as official timekeepers through the years to some of the biggest and most well known of sporting events.
Most watches come with a quartz movement though some comes with mechanical movements with some complications like chronograph. However, Tissot don’t just make ‘classically’ styled watches. They produce some very trendy sports watches, the T-Touch being the most famous.
This watch allows the user to access 11 different functions by simply touching the glass on the watch face. Among the functions available are Thermometer, Barometer, Altimeter, Compass and Meters/Imperial conversion.
To underline its modernity, the casing is available in steel and titanium with white, back or silver dials. The straps are also very modern with blue, white leather, steel or rubber – the rubber strap looks especially good in Orange.
Tissot PR50 watches aren’t going to appeal to many watch connoisseurs or collectors, however, they will certainly appeal to those who want to own a genuine Swiss watch from a Swiss manufacturer of some standing at a price that is very affordable. It is one of the best watches for the cost you pay, for quality and appearance.
Tissot PR50 is it Going Away?
The PR50, one of the most beloved watches in the Tissot range for over 30 years now, is being fazed out of production. It was announced by Tissot at the Basel watch fair demonstrating that the Tissot company is serious about change for the brand.
The PR50 has been a huge part of Tissot’s watch range for an incredible amount of years and over time, the PR50 has had much needed facelifts to keep up with technological advancements and fashion changes.
Some of Tissot’s most popular watches came from the PR50 range such as; the PR50 Nascar and the Men’s PR50 Seven digital analogue crossover watch. But wait a moment, before you go out and try to buy up the world’s remaining supply of PR50 watches, Tissot have only signalled the end of the classic PR50 or the basic model PR50, the Nascar and PR50 Seven.
However, this doesn’t mean that the rest of the Tissot PR50 series are safe from the axe, it just means that they have avoided this for the time being. So for those who are still biding their time to buy themselves a classic starter model PR50, you better be quick because they won’t be around for much longer.
Despite this loss, Tissot have launched a new replacement for the PR50; the new PR100 which owes much of its looks to its predecessor the PR50. The PR100 though has a much higher specification than the PR50 and it is easy to see why Tissot have decided to cancel the PR50 once people see the new PR100 model.
The PR100 has a much larger dial, a new 100 meter water resistance and a much changed bracelet which is sure to make people want to upgrade from the old PR50 to the new PR100.
It has also been a year of change for Tissot watches. Tissot have built their reputation on the quality and affordability of the watches they produce. This once classic watch brand has morphed into one of the leading sports watch brands in the market place.
At the heart of this change has been the Tissot T-Touch range of watches. The tactile multi-functioning sports watch has created a niche in the market which has led to the growth of the Tissot brand in the UK and around the rest of the world.
